Summary: Benji's the punk the new kid at school learns to trust. There's an instant connection, an instant attraction. (I promise the story is better than the summary)

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN: the positives
We get to Benji's house and I head straight to the twins' room. I toe my sneakers off and climb into Benji's bed. I lay there, hugging his pillow. I don't know what I should be doing. I don't know what I'm feeling. My emotions are all jumbled.
I feel the bed sink behind me. Then Benji's voice speaks.
"Seb. My mom's here. She wants to talk." I sit up and look at Ms. Madden.
"I'm sorry it didn't go well," she says. I nod, looking down at the bed spread. "Sebastien, you're like family," Ms. Madden tells me. "You can stay here as long as you want, just as long as you promise me something." I look up at my boyfriend's mom.
"What is it?" I ask.
"Promise me you'll stay here at least until you graduate." She gives me an expectant look.
"Yes," I whisper. "I promise." I move over to the dark-haired woman and hug her tightly. "Thank you," I tell her. "I don't know where else I could go."
"You don't have to worry, Sweety," Ms. Madden replies. "You'll be okay. We love you here. Can you promise me something else?" I nod, pulling away. "From now on you'll call me Robyn. No more Ms. Madden." I laugh for the first time today.
"That I can do." Robyn smiles.
"Dinner will be ready in about an hour, you two. Okay?" My boyfriend and I nod. Then Robyn leaves.
I turn to face Benji.
"How are you?" he asks quietly. I move over to him and place my head on his shoulder.
"At least you love me," I say softly, wrapping my arms around his ribs. "I don't know what I'd do if you didn't." Benji kisses my head, his arms circling me.
"You don't have to worry about that," he tells me.
"Yeah." There's a beat of silence. Then I speak. "I don't know where I'd be right now if it wasn't for you."
"You'd probably be at home and still in the closet," Benji says.
"Yeah, but at least now when you pick me up from work you can kiss me hello," I reply, trying to look at the positives. Benji gives a short laugh.
"Yeah," he agrees. "Know what else is good about this?"
"What?"
"We're going to be living together. Granted you'll probably be staying in the spare room. But still," Benji says. "And when school starts, I won't have to get up as early to pick you up. You'll just be on the other side of the wall." I snort.
"You're happy that I was disowned because now you can sleep in a little later?" I tease.
"Well....I get to wake up to you every morning and that's the biggest perk because you are the very best to wake up to," he replies.
"You're my favorite thing to wake up to," I inform him.
Benji pulls back enough to look at me. He smiles. Then he pecks my lips.
"I love you, Seba. You're all I've ever wanted. You're everything I've been wishing for," he tells me. "You're everything I need in a soulmate."
"Benji...." I don't know what to say. I stroke his cheek lightly. "You always know what to say to make me feel special."
"You are special," Benji replies. "You're one of a kind and I can't get enough."
I move to straddle my boyfriend's thighs. I run my fingers through his hair saying,
"I love you, Benji, always." Then I kiss him softly. His tongue slides past my lips, curling around my own. He laps lovingly at my tongue and I return the gesture.
After a while, we pull apart.
"Thank god you love me," I whisper, letting my forehead fall against my lover's.
"Thank god you love me," Benji replies. He rubs my back.
"You're my everything," I tell him softly.
"Same here." He holds me until it's time for dinner.
