Rating: PG-13 due to one swear word (may change in later chapters)
P.O.V.: First Person, switches back and forth, clearly marked.
Notes: Takes place during The Walk Tour '08. AU: Kate and Zac never married, never had Shepherd. All other wives / kids are still in play.

CHAPTER TWO

MEL'S POV: 3 Months Later

"I still can't believe we're touring with Hanson!" I chatter excitedly to Aaron as we help transfer our bags to the tour bus.

"I know, I know. You've been saying that for three months now," Aaron replies.

"I can't help it!" I tell him. "They're my musical idols! They're the whole reason I wanted to become a singer! Okay, not the whole reason. But they gave me that push, like, if they could be number one at such a young age, why couldn't I? Ya know?" I look over at my best friend and he nods.

"Yeah, I know." He turns to me. "That's why I'm so happy for you. I know how much this band means to you." He smirks. "Not to mention what a great opportunity this is for all of us." I grin.

"Yeah, not to mention that."

We're on the bus getting ready to head off to our first stop on the tour, which isn't too far away from where we are now. I figure it's about time to take off my wig. My bandmates are the only ones who are going to see me until we get to the first stop. It's time to let my head breathe for a couple of hours.

Just as I start pulling off the black and pink wig, the door to our bus opens.

"Anybody home?" Isaac calls.

"Oh shit!" I exclaim in a whisper. Aaron jumps up and helps me tuck a few loose strands of my naturally lighter hair back under my wig. Just in time too, as the three Hanson brothers walk up to us in the lounge area.

"Hey, guys," Taylor greets us with a smile. We give the brothers a collective hey.

"We just wanted to let you know that at 2 o'clock we'll be doing our first barefoot walk," Isaac says. "We'll be meeting at the front of the venue."

"As the opening act you guys aren't obligated to take the walks," Taylor tells us. "But just know the support is appreciated and you can do all the walks, none of the walks, or anything in between. Also, you don't have to go barefoot if you don't want to."

"Thanks," I say with a nod.

"Any questions?" Isaac asks. We all shake our heads. "Well okay then. Have fun and don't do anything stupid. We'll see you in a few hours."

Once the door to our bus closes behind the brothers I heave a deep sigh of relief.

"God that was close," I say, finally pulling off my wig. I shake my hair out and look at my friends. "What?" I ask.

"I still don't understand the whole wig thing," Chuck says. I flop down on the couch with Aaron.

"If you don't get it by now, I don't think you ever will," I tell my guitarist.

Oooh.. a wig, surprising! I'm wanting to see where that is going. No Zac this time, hm, is he hiding? :P This is still really cute, babe. I'm looking forward to reading more, Mel is intruiging as a character.

The wig gets explained later on in life....or ya know, the story. Not sure which chapter tho. But I will tell you that I'm hard at work on Chapter three.
