CHAPTER FOUR
After putting the baby down, I dress Ezra and Penny in their pajamas. I read them a story or two and then tuck them in their bunks. When I go back into the lounge, Jessie's put on a movie. I settle down on the couch to watch and that's the last thing I remember.
The next thing I know, the room's dark and someone's tucking a blanket around me. I sit up, rubbing my eyes. I feel a hand on my shoulder and hear a soft voice.
"Hey, lay back down. Go back to sleep." It's Taylor.
I flop back down on the couch, looking up at the blond singer.
"But you don't know where I live," I state. Taylor smiles, sitting on the edge of the couch beside me.
"True," he says. Then he tilts his head to the side a bit. "How'd you get here?"
"My mom dropped me off. I don't drive," I tell him. He nods.
"Okay. If you give me your address, I'll get our bus driver to map it out. You'll be home in no time." He smiles that bright smile of his. My stomach does a little flip-flop. Then I write down my address for him and he leaves saying he'll be back in a moment.
I think I dozed off again because the next time I hear Taylor's voice, it sounds far away. I make a little groaning noise and reach in the direction of his voice, grasping air.
"Stay here," I sigh. I hear his feet move on the carpet. "Lay with me," I say, holding my arm out.
"Um....." I open my eyes to look at him in the dark.
"Please?" I whisper.
I don't know if it's the lack of light, but Taylor looks uneasy. After a moment of silence, he nods. I move onto my side to give him more space to lay down and when he does, I wrap my arm around his shoulders, leaning my head against him.
"Where's everyone else?" I ask, closing my eyes.
"In their bunks," Taylor answers quietly. I nod, yawning.
I press my face into his shoulder.
"You're comfy," I mumble.
"So are you," Taylor replies softly. He turns towards me, wrapping his arms around me. I smile and press closer to him.
"Want some blanket?" I ask. Taylor hesitates, then nods.
"Sure." I re-situate the fleece blanket, covering my companion with half of it.
"I don't bite, ya know," I tell him quietly. His nose touches mine briefly.
"I know," he whispers.
"Then don't be so nervous." My words shock me. I can't believe I'm saying these things to Taylor Hanson.
Taylor's lips brush my cheek.
"Go to sleep," he says softly.
"I will if you will," I reply.
"Okay," he whispers. His arms tighten around me as I slowly drift to sleep, a smile on my face.
Did you love it?
Did you hate it?
Let me know!
