CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX

Zac's POV

Six Months Later.....

I'm so fucking nervous. My hands are clammy and my tie feels too tight. I tug at it and get a slap from my best friend.

"Stop it," she says. "Geez. You'd think this was your first date, not your wedding day."

"I can't help it," I tell her wringing my hands. "I'm just so nervous. I want this to be perfect for Tay. He deserves it." Andy smiles at me, straightening my tie once again.

"You deserve it too," she says. I smile back at her.

"Thanks."

I take a deep breath and turn to the mirror to check my hair and tie for the umpteenth time.

"So what's with this Aaron guy?" I ask. I glance at my best friend and she blushes.

"What do you mean?" she asks.

"I mean, is it serious?" Andy's cheeks get even rosier.

"I dunno," she says. "I mean, I'd like it to be serious. Aaron's a really great guy and a talented musician. I really like him." I grin and tease her,

"You and your musicians." Andy pouts.

"Shuddup." I give her a one-armed hug.

"You know I love you, Banana Face." She smiles.

"I love you too, Monster." Then she looks at her watch. "And now it's time to get you married."

I take a deep breath and let it out slowly. This is it.

Taylor's POV

I took on the the masculine roll by proposing. I guess now I'm taking on the feminine one as I enter the living room and move towards Zac and Isaac like a bride walking down the aisle to her groom. When I get to my brothers, they're both grinning from ear to ear. Zac's eyes sparkle and he's never looked better.

Isaac clears his throat and we both turn to him.

"You guys ready?" he asks. Zac and I share a look, then nod. He nods back and begins to speak.

"We've gathered here today to witness a very special union between two people who have been in love since the day they were born. I have never met two people more deserving of each other. Or more in love. Never have two souls complimented each other so well. I think it's obvious to us all that Zac and Taylor are truly meant to be. With that being said, the couple will now recite the vows they have written themselves."

My older brother turns to me. "Taylor, you may go first, because we all know that if Zac went first by the time he was finished, you'd be blubbering too much to speak." The entire group, all seven of us (my brothers and I, JD and her boyfriend Paul, Andy and Aaron), chuckle at the truth to his words. No one's spoken except for Isaac and I'm already tearing up.

Zac and I turn to face each other and join hands. I'm so nervous. I know Zac can feel how sweaty my palms are. But he's just standing there, grinning at me. I take a deep breath and begin.

"I was two and a half when you were born and I remember the very first time I saw you. Dad held me up to the nursery window and I pressed my nose against the glass, spotting you instantly. You were so small and I can remember just wanting to hold you and never let go."

I pause, biting my lip, and look down at our clasped hands. After a moment I lift my gaze to Zac, his face blurry through my tears.

"And now, eighteen years later, I still feel that way. I still want to hold you against me and never, ever let you go. You've always been the missing piece of my puzzle. The best piece. The one in dead center that makes the whole picture come together. You make my life come together perfectly and for that, I promise to always love you. I promise to make you happy when you feel like everything's going wrong. I promise to wipe away the tears when you cry. And I promise to support you in everything you do. I love you and I promise to never let you go."

I sniff back the tears and give a little nod to signify I'm done. Zac leans towards Isaac and, in a stage whisper, asks,

"Can I kiss him now?" Everyone chuckles at this. Then Isaac replies,

"No, you cannot. There's more to do. Like you saying your vows." Zac gives a little pout. But then he smiles and reaches into his pocket, pulling out a piece of paper. He unfolds it and begins to read.

"Dear Tay, I'm so nervous. But in a good way. The way that you just want everything to go perfect because it means so much to the person you care about the most. You are the person I care about the most. The person that I want to have everything happen perfectly for because you make my life perfect."

Zac stops, biting his trembling bottom lip. I reach out and squeeze his hand. He gives me a watery grin and then continues.

"Throughout my life, I've accomplished some great things. But none of them would matter if you weren't here. Someone once said that you could have everything you've ever wanted, but none of it would matter if you couldn't share it with the person you love. I happen to know the truth in that statement.

"You make getting out of bed every day worth it. You make writing music worth it. And when I feel like the whole world hates me, just a smile from you makes living and breathing worth while. Th-ank you..." Zac chokes up a little and clears his throat.

"Thank you for making every day better than the last. You are my heart and soul and the air that I breathe. I promise to always protect you from what scares you the most. And I promise to always listen to what you have to say and let you know that your opinion matters. Above all, I promise to always love you, 'til death do we part.

"Love always, forever and a day, yours forever, Zac." Then Zac laughs and looks up at me. "P.S. Isaac better let me kiss you now." I grin as Zac folds up his vows and tucks them into my jacket pocket. We both turn to our older brother. He's smiling widely.

"And now for the rings," he says. Andy and JD step forward, handing over our wedding bands.

Isaac instructs me to go first. Slipping the gold ring on to Zac's finger I say,

"With this ring, I thee wed." Tears overflow, falling down my cheeks. This is it. This is really it.

Then Isaac turns to Zac.

"Now you." Zac takes my hand and slips my ring on my finger saying,

"With this ring, I thee wed." We share a special look, then turn to our older brother. He grins at us and says,

"By the power invested in me by myself, I now pronounce you partners for life."

"Now?" Zac asks. Isaac chuckles.

"Yes, Zac, you can kiss him now."

Zac pulls me to his chest and lays his lips on mine. I kiss him back, tears streaming down my face. Our friends and our brother are all cheering for us.

When I finally pull away from my husband, I see he's crying too. I hug him close and whisper I love you. He repeats the sentiment, squeezing me tightly. Then we turn to our friends, getting hugs and kisses and congratulations.

After a moment, Isaac clears his throat loudly. We all look at him.

"We should get going. Our reservation's at seven," he says. So we all gather up the things we need and head outside. We flag down two cabs and then we're off to the restaurant for our reception.

Zac's POV

We get to the restaurant and are seated at the best table. When are waiter brings our drinks and rolls, I stop him.

"Do you think we could get a bottle of champagne?" He smiles.

"Sure. What's the occasion?" I can't help the grin that spreads across my face.

"This is a wedding celebration." The waiter's eyes light up.

"So who's the lucky couple?" I look at my best friend and say,

"They are." I nod at Andy and Aaron.

Andy blushes and leans into Aaron. He just grins, wrapping his arm around her.

"Congratulations!" the waiter, whose name-tag I finally notice reads Jake, exclaims. Andy cuddles into Aaron more.

"Thank you," she says softly. Jake smiles and replies,

"I'll be right back with that champagne." Once he's gone, Andy throws a roll at me.

"Zac!" she hisses. I laugh.

"What? It's not like I could tell him who really got married." She makes a face.

"You so owe me."

When our champagne flutes are filled, Andy speaks up.

"I'd like to make a toast." We all turn to her. "First, to love." We raise our glasses, clinking them together, and take a sip. "Next I'd like to say, no matter where life takes us, whether it be Paris, Rome or just the corner store, just remember that we will always wind up right back here. Sitting around a table with our best friends and our better halves, eating great food and making lasting memories. So here's to good food, good times and the best of friends."

"Here, here!" We all clink and sip again.

I look at Taylor, grinning. He squeezes my hand under the table.

"I love you," he whispers. I squeeze his hand back.

"I love you too," I tell him. Then I lean close to him. "Thanks for making this the best day of my life." Taylor's eyes tear up.

"Ditto," he replies.

Maybe I'm crazy but I can't seem to get the link for previous chapters to work for Chapter 7 on. Is there somewhere else that I can read them?

No, you're not crazy. I posted about this last night. The community "theleavesturn" was deleted therefore, chapters 8 - 32 have also been deleted. I'm going to have to re-type all those chapters in order for people to read them.

Please be patient.
