writefiction | The Spark Inside Challenge: Spring 2010

So, I don't know if I told yall, but I did The Spark Inside Spring 2010 Challenge this year. The theme for this year's challenge was How Far We've Come. The point was to post an old story, either an entire short story or the first chapter of a longer one, and then rewrite it to see how much we've improved. The story I did was one I'd written my senior year of high school which was 2002 - 2003. And let me tell you, I didn't know it at the time, but the story really sucked! My loverly beta for the challenge was scorpio_15 and she gave me some awesome concrit. There wasn't any time to work this advice into the rewrite, so I decided to rewrite the rewrite on my own and maybe perhaps finish the story, because even 7 - 8 years later, it hasn't been finished. So I decided once the 11th came around, I'd start posting this story. So here I am, posting the first chapter. And even though I find the original painfully embarrassing, I think you should all read it before moving on to this. So here's a link: The Original Best Friends to The End.
