CHAPTER SIX
Tommy and Bella were giggling, all soapy and wet when all of a sudden the water ran cold and the lights and fan shut off. Tommy and Bella both scrambled to turn the freezing water off. “Holy shit that’s cold!” Tommy exclaimed.
Bella rubbed at the goose-bumps that were breaking out on her arms. “No shit, Sherlock,” she replied.
“Hey now, no sniping at me,” Tommy said, sliding the shower curtain back. “I did not make the power go out.”
“How do you know?” she smirked.
Tommy grinned at her. “I may be the hottest, fiercest pixie there is but I’m not that powerful.”
Bella giggled and leaned in to Tommy. “Can we, maybe, get out of this shower. I’m freezing!” Tommy hopped out of the shower then turned to Bella, holding out his hand, to help her over the edge of the tub. “Thanks,” she murmured as he wrapped a big fluffy towel around her.
“You’re welcome,” he replied softly, taking another towel and wrapping it around his waist.
They began to dry off a little and Bella couldn’t help looking around the pitch black bathroom. “It’s sorta creepy in here without any light,” she stated.
“Are you scared of the dark?” Tommy asked and he sounded so serious, so concerned.
Bella chewed her lip a little bit. “I don’t want to sound like a wimp but… yeah.”
Tommy reached for Bella, pulling her in close. “Don’t worry,” he said. “It’ll be better in the bedroom. There are windows and we can get natural light.”
“Babe, do you think there’s really going to be natural light if the power has all gone out?” There was a loud clap of thunder. “From a storm no less.”
“Hm, probably not,” Tommy replied. “But there could be some lightening to light up our world.” The couple laughed.
“That was the cheesiest thing I’ve ever heard!” Bella giggled. Tommy took Bella by the hand and stuck his tongue out at her before leading her in to the other room.
“Why is it so cold?” Bella muttered as she raced over to the bed and dove under the covers, Tommy hot on her heals. They tossed their towels away and curled up together under the blankets.
“It’s August,” Tommy whined. “It shouldn’t be this cold… even if we are in the Northern part of the country.”
“We’re not that far north,” Bella told him.
“The state borders Canada!” Tommy exclaimed, eyes wide. The expression on his face was quite comical and had Bella crying with laughter, which only served to make Tommy scoot further away.
“Hey now,” Bella said, wiping at her tears. “Come back. Body heat is the best way to warm up. Especially after an ice bath.” Tommy pouted at Bella. So she rolled her eyes and crawled over to him. “C’mere, my fierce little pixie,” she cooed, wrapping her arms around him. She gave him her best puppy dog eyes and apologized. “I’m sorry I laughed at you. Can you forgive me?” Tommy nodded, sliding his arms around her waist. “Yay!” She giggled and planted a wet kiss to his lips. “Love you,” she murmured.
“Love you too,” he replied.
Then there was a sharp rap on the door of their room. The pair looked at each other with raised eyebrows until the knocking came again. “Go answer it,” Bella hissed.
“Me? Why don’t you answer it?” Tommy whined.
“Because, I’m scared of the dark and it could be some psychotic person!” Bella answered burgeoning on hysterics.
Tommy placed a sweet little kiss to her mouth before climbing from the bed. “Fine, I’ll get it,” he said, picking his jeans up off the floor and pulling them on.
The knock came again just before Tommy could open the door. He yanked it open to find a woman carrying a flashlight. “Can I help you?” he asked.
“Sorry to bother you, sir,” the woman said. “But the hurricane is hitting the town pretty hard. I’m afraid you’ll be stuck here for a few days.”
Just then Bella’s cell phone rang. She grabbed it off the night table and put it to her ear. “Yeah?” she asked.
“Did you hear?” Cherry asked.
“That we’re going to be stuck here for a few days?” Bella replied.
“Yeah. That.”
“Good thing your kids are at their dad’s this weekend,” Bella stated.
“Yeah, no kidding.”
They were both silent for a moment. “But hey, we get to spend more time with the boys,” Bella spoke up.
“Very true,” Cherry replied.
There was a beat of silence, then Bella sighed. “Shit.”
“What is it?” Cherry asked.
“I need the rest of my stuff if we’re going to be stuck here. I left most of it in your room. I only brought my pajamas over here.”
“Hold on,” Cherry said. Then Bella heard Cherry talking quietly, most likely to Cam, but she didn’t know what the other woman was saying. She probably had her hand over the mouthpiece of the phone. A moment later she was back. “Alright, so Cam said he’d brave the storm to bring you your things.”
“Aw, really?” Bella asked.
“Yup.”
“Tell him thanks and give him a big wet kiss for me!”
Cherry laughed. “Will do. He’ll be there in just a few minutes.”
“Okay. Thanks. Maybe we can meet up for lunch?”
“Yeah, that’d be great! How about one o’clock?”
“Sure. We can meet at your hotel, okay?”
“Sounds good. See you then.”
“Bye.” Bella hung up the phone as Tommy shut the door and came back over to the bed. He stood next to it and stripped his tight pants off again, sliding between the sheets with Bella. “Miss me?” he asked.
Bella giggled lightly. “Of course I did. And by the way, Cam is bring my bags over,” she told him.
“In this weather?” Tommy asked.
Bella nodded. “We’re going to be stuck here a few days and I may want to get dressed at some point. Although, being naked in a bed with you is definitely more fun.”
Tommy grinned. “Damn straight!” The pair laughed and cuddled close, waiting for Cam to show up. When he did, it was Bella’s turn to pull on some clothes and answer the door. Cam was completely dry when Bella opened the door. She raised an eyebrow at him. “How’d you manage to keep dry?” she asked reaching for her bags. Cam grinned and held up an umbrella. Bella laughed. “Oh, I see. You wanna come in for a bit?”
He shook his head. “No thanks. Told Cherry I wouldn’t be long.”
Bella nodded. “Yeah, she doesn’t like to be kept waiting,” she joked. “Give her a kiss for me. Oh, and thanks.”
“You’re welcome and I will.” Cam turned on his heel and walked away. Bella closed the door and slung her bags over her shoulders, walking in to the room and setting her duffle next to her overnight bag and purse.
“Is that an acoustic guitar?” Tommy asked from the bed.
Smiling, Bella turned around to face him. “Why, yes, it is.”
“Do you play?”
Bella rolled her eyes. “No, I just carry a guitar around randomly because I don’t know how to play it.” Tommy blushed. “Of course I play, Silly. You want to hear something?”
Tommy nodded eagerly. “Yes, please!” Bella smiled and unzipped the soft case, bringing the old worn guitar over to the bed.
Bella sat across from her blond pixie, both of them sitting cross-legged. Bella strummed the guitar a little to make sure it was in tune and then looked at Tommy. “So what do you want to hear me play?” she asked.
“Oh, I dunno,” he answered. “How ‘bout something that means a lot to you.” Bella nodded, going through her list of meaningful songs. There were so many. But then one song crossed her mind that made her think of her lover and she smiled.
“I’ve got the perfect song,” she told him.
He grinned at her. “Go on then.”
Bella cleared her throat as she brushed her fingers over the strings and began to sing.
“I looked away, then I looked back at you. You tried to say things that you can’t undo. If I had my way, I’d never get over you. Today’s the day, I pray that we make it through. Make it through the fall, make it through it all.
“And I don’t want to fall to pieces, I just want to sit and stare at you. And I don’t want to talk about it and I don’t want a conversation, I just want to cry in front of you. And I don’t want to talk about it ‘cause I’m in love with you.
“You’re the only one I’d be with till the end. When I come undone, you bring me back again. Back under the stars, back in to your arms.
“And I don’t want to fall to pieces, I just want to sit and stare at you. And I don’t want to talk about it and I don’t want a conversation, I just want to cry in front of you. And I don’t want to talk about it ‘cause I’m in love with you.
“Wanna know who you are. Wanna know where to start. I wanna know what this means. Wanna know how you feel. Wanna know what is real. I wanna know everything, everything.
As Bella started to go in to the first repeat of the final chorus, tears sprung to her eyes and began to slowly trek down her face.
“And I don’t want to fall to pieces. I just want to sit and stare at you… And I don’t want to talk about it, I don’t want a conversation, I just want to cry in front of you. And I don’t want to talk about it and I don’t want to fall to pieces. I just want to sit and stare at you. And I don’t want to talk about it and I don’t want a conversation, I just want to cry in front of you. And I don’t want to talk about it ‘cause I’m in love with you. Yeah, I’m in love with you. I’m in love with you…”
Tommy reached out to her when the notes faded and brushed at the tears on her face. “Play me another?” he asked.
Bella nodded. “But don’t roll your eyes when you hear what it is.”
“Why would I do that?” he asked stroking Bella’s cheek.
“Because… you might. But you told me to sing a song that means a lot to me, so that first one means a lot to me because of you. And now, this song, has so much more meaning because of you so I want to sing it for you, okay?”
Tommy nodded. “Of course, go right ahead.”
Bella cleared her throat again and wiped at her face. She began to strum the beginning notes of Adam Lambert’s Whataya Want from Me and a concerned look came over Tommy’s face when he heard them.
“Hey… Slow it down. Whataya want from me? Whataya want from me? Yeah, said I’m afraid. So whataya want from me? Whataya want from me? There might have been a time when I would give myself away, oh once upon a time I didn’t give a damn. But now… here we are. Said whataya want from me? Whataya want from me?
“Just don’t give up I’m workin’ it out. Please don’t give in, I won’t let you down. It messed me up, I need a second to breathe. Just keep comin’ around. Whataya want from me? Whataya want from me?
“It’s plain to see… That, baby, you’re beautiful and there’s nothing wrong with you…”
Bella put down her guitar then and crawled in to Tommy’s lap, crying while she continued to sing.
“It’s me. Yeah, I’m a freak. But thanks for loving me, ‘cause you’re doing it perfectly. There might’ve been a time when I would let you slip away. Oh, I wouldn’t even try but I think you could save my life.”
Bella clung to Tommy, petting his hair, and leaned her forehead against his as she sung, her voice coming out in a whisper.
“Just don’t give up, I’m workin’ it out. Please don’t give in, I won’t let you down. It messed me up, I need a second to breathe. Just keep coming around. Hey. Whataya want from me? Whataya want from me? Hey, said whataya want? Whataya want? Whataya want from me….”
Before Tommy could speak Bella pressed her lips to his, effectively crushing any words that were about to leave his mouth. She kissed him with desperation, pushing him back in to the pillows. “Don’t give up on me,” she whispered. “I won’t let you down.”
“Baby, what’s wrong?” Tommy murmured. “Why are you crying? Please talk to me.”
“I just…” Bella shook her head, sniffling. “It’s just… I was raped ten years ago this month,” she said, effectively making Tommy gasp.
“I’m so sorry, baby,” he whispered, petting Bella’s hair.
“I haven’t trusted a guy since… that is, until you and Adam, and I’m just… I know I’ve fallen in love with you and it scares me, the way things are just so easy with you. The way I can just get undressed in front of you, be with you in every way possible,” Bella explained. “I mean, ever since that happened I couldn’t even get naked locked in the bathroom without feeling so… I don’t even know! Just so ashamed of my body and I just… Don’t give up on me if I have body issues in our relationship, okay? I mean, yeah, we’ve done stuff…a lot of stuff… but I could freak out and I don’t want that, but just… You make me feel safe.”
“I am safe,” Tommy murmured. “I won’t ever hurt you. I’m not even going to break your heart. The only way you’re getting rid of me is if you dump me. You got that?” Bella nodded. “Now what can I do to make things better? I know I can’t erase what happened, but what can I do to make right now better?”
Bella lifted her head to look at the man that meant more than anything to her. “Love me,” she whispered. “Just take me in your arms and make love to me.”
“Are you sure?” Tommy asked. Bella nodded and that’s all it took for Tommy to begin kissing Bella again and start peeling her clothes from her body.
Bella cried as she slid beneath the sheets, her lips still attached to Tommy‘s, her tears falling on his face. “Shh,” he murmured. “It’s okay. I’ve got you.” He gently rolled her on to her back and she spread her legs, letting his hips fall between her thighs where they fit perfectly. He kissed and caressed her so gently, so softly, that it made even more drops of salt water drip from her eyes. But he paid attention to those too, gently kissing them away and murmuring how much he loved her, how strong she was, how proud of her he was.
Then he was slowly entering her, taking his time to be gentle and loving. Tommy settled his hips against Bella’s and pressed his mouth to hers. “I love you,” he murmured against my lips. “I’ll always love you. And I’ll take care of you. I promise.”
“Don’t let go,” Bella replied quietly. “Please don’t let me go.”
“I won’t,” he breathed, his hips finally starting to move. “I promise, I’ll hold on tight. Just don’t let me go either.” Bella looked up in to Tommy’s dark eyes and saw the tears in them.
“Don’t cry,” she whispered. “Don’t cry over me. I’m not worth it.”
Tommy crushed his lips to Bella’s in a searing kiss then pulled back to say, “I don’t want to ever hear you say you’re not worth it. You are worth every tear that I shed times two. You’re worth the moon and the stars in the sky.”
All the while, the pleasure had been building in the pit of Bella’s stomach, their bodies moving as one. “I love you,” she whispered.
“I love you too,” Tommy whispered back. Then there was no more talking, just their bodies dancing together in a passionate embrace and every emotion being spoken with their eyes. Soon the pleasure was too much and they’re both crying out with passion, their bodies quivering with release.
Tommy leaned down, kissing Bella slowly and softly. “I love you,” he whispered. “So much.”
“I love yo-- you too,” Bella choked out on a sob. Tommy slid off her and pulled her to his chest.
“Shh, don’t cry,” he murmured soothingly. Bella pressed her face in to his bare skin, breathing deeply, trying to calm herself. With his hand moving soothingly through her hair, she was asleep in no time.
