Other Notes: The “exes” part of the title doesn’t really mean anything, but I think you’ll get why I picked this as the title after you read it, even if it’s not all that obvious.
More Notes: This turned in to a series here's the Master Post
Warning: none

ALL MY EXES LIVE IN TEXAS
He mingled with the crowd in his tiny apartment at his going away party. He laughed and joked while I sat on the couch with a drink by myself, just watching. He was the life of the party, as he should be, everyone wanting to hug him and congratulate him on his new job. Which happened to be in Texas, half a country away from here. Everyone would miss him, but were happy for him. It’d been awhile since he could find a job that he actually went to college for, always taking a job at the local market when his temporary positions ended. But now he had a real job, a real far away job.
He was a beautiful man, inside and out. Always willing to be the good Samaritan, who in the end, was the one that got in trouble for helping someone else out. He had a good heart, which made him more attractive than his handsome physical features. He gave good hugs, which he was doing quite a bit tonight.
As the party came to an end, there was a strange urge to do something before it was too late. But wasn’t it already too late, now that he was moving so far away? That didn’t matter now. All that mattered was that he knew before he left, knew the truth about our friendship.
He smiled brightly and all I could do was murmur, I love you, then turn and walk away, never looking back.
