Unofficial NaNoWriMo!!!!!!!!
Nov. 11th, 2008 02:51 pmHey El-jay fam! So I kind of lied when it came to my unofficial NaNoWriMo fic. Well, I didn't so much lie as I just changed my mind :D I started a brand new story for it. So I just finished the first chapter and am posting for you all to read. It's not the best first chapter in the world, but it's a start and hopefully what comes next will be better. I was just kind of struggling with how to get it started. So please don't judge this fic by it's first chapter. Wait until at least chapter two. lol
Read and enjoy.....or not.

It's a long drive from our home in New Hampshire to Foxboro, Massachusetts. We're about half way there when I break the silence.
"How did you rope me into spending two nights in a hotel in Mass?" I look over at Jaclyn and she shrugs from the driver's seat.
"Maybe it's because you're staying at the hotel for free and you're getting into the concert for free. And all you have to pay for is half the food, half the gas and anything you feel like spending money on, like band merch." Jaclyn gives me a bright grin.
I can't help laughing a little. "You know me so well." Jaci giggles, giving me a quick smile before she turns back to the road.
"I know more than I even want to know," she says, making us both laugh.
Two hours later we turn off the highway into Foxboro. After a few wrong turns, we find the Comfort Inn we're staying at. We park the car and check in. Once we're unpacked, we head back out looking for a place to eat. We eventually happen upon a Denny's and get breakfast for dinner. Then it's back to the hotel to get ready for the concert.
Jaclyn and I get good seats, right up front near the stage. The opening acts are amazing and put on a good show. Then the lights dim and intro music comes on. Fog comes over the stage and voice says,
"Give it up for Hanson!"
The name sends chills down my spine. Then three men run on stage and over to their instruments. I look at the drummer closely. It's him. It's actually him. I feel the panic start to spread through me. My chest gets tight and it gets hard to breathe. But just as quickly as the panic appeared, it dissipates and is replaced with anger. Anger so strong it's almost rage.
I turn to my best friend and punch her in the shoulder.
"You bitch!" I exclaim, which can barely be heard over the music. Jaclyn looks at me with wide eyes, rubbing her shoulder. "I can't believe you brought me here!" I yell. "You knew and you brought me here!" I turn and start pushing my way through the crowd.
"Mel! I'm sorry!" I can just make out Jaclyn's words coming from behind, but I don't stop. I keep pushing through the throngs of screaming girls until I can find a clearing in the back.
I lean over with my hands on my knees, trying desperately not to cry. Just a moment later Jaci shows up next to me. I glare at her.
"I'm so sorry, Mel," she says. "So sorry. But you have to face him." I straighten up and look her square in the face.
"Why?" I ask. "Why did you bring me here? Why would you want to hurt me like this?" Jaclyn wraps an arm around me, pulling me close.
"I didn't bring you here to hurt you," she tells me. "I brought you here hoping you two could talk. Hoping this could fix things. I love you, Mel. You're like a sister. I just want you to be happy. I was hoping this would help."
I sigh. "I don't know if I can do this." Jaci squeezes me.
"Just calm down and enjoy the music. Everything will be fine." She gives me, what I'm assuming is, a reassuring smile, but it seriously doesn't help. And so I wait anxiously for the concert to end.
