Summary: Luxe and Adam have been best friends since Hollywood Week, but now that tour rehearsals have begun, Adam is finding out things he'd never know about his friend. Things that no one should have to go through. Can Adam be her Knight in Shining Armor? Or will he be the support Luxe needs to overcome her fears and help herself?
We meet Kris and Allison in the lobby of our hotel. They tell us the other Idols went out somewhere for breakfast so we decide to eat at the hotel restaurant. We’re quickly seated at a table in the back corner and handed our menus. The restaurant is light and airy and not at all tacky. It’s actually kind of elegant with small chandeliers lighting the room, tablecloths covering the tabletops and the silverware wrapped in cloth napkins.
“So what’s everyone having?” Kris asks. I make a face and shrug, my eyes still roaming over the words on the page. Allison starts rambling on about some documentary she saw a week ago about hotel restaurants. But I’m not really paying attention to her. Instead I’m focused on the hand on my knee, comforting and reassuring. I wasn’t even aware that I needed the comfort or assurance, but now that I know I’m glad that Adam recognized my need. This is why I’ve always liked him, he’s always known how I’m feeling even before I do and he takes care of me. We’ve always had an amazing friendship and now that it may lead to something more, I’m more than thrilled… and a little terrified.
Someone snaps their fingers in front of my face and when I focus I notice it’s Allison. “What?” I ask.
“Dude, you were totally spacing, weren’t you?” Allison says.
I blush. “Yeah, sorry. What was the question?”
“Are you ready to order?” the redhead asks slowly with wild hand gestures.
I roll my eyes at her. “I was thinking, I’m not retarded. And yes, I’m ready to order.”
Alli giggles. “You were thinking?” she teases. I roll my eyes again. “What about? A boy perhaps?” She giggles again.
I feel my cheeks flame and an embarrassed smile comes over my face. The teenager across from me squeals and claps her hands together. “Oh my god! You are thinking about a boy! Who is it? Do we know him? Is it another Idol? C’mon! Details, woman!”
“Wow, did you already have an espresso this morning?” I laugh.
Allison’s cheeks turn red to match her hair. “Maybe.” Everyone at the table laughs then.
“Yeah, I was thinking about a boy, so sue me.” I stick my tongue out at the younger girl.
“So, who is it?” she asks.
“It’s uh…” I want to say no one but I’m sure that would hurt Adam’s feelings. “He’s just a guy. That I like. A lot. No biggie.” I shrug and feel the man beside me squeeze my knee gently. I reach under the table to squeeze his hand back.
“And his name would be…?” Allison prods.
“None of your business,” I answer.
Allison pouts. “Aw, c’mon now. That’s not fair. I tell you everything,” she says.
I glance at Adam from the corner of my eye. He isn’t looking back, he’s just perusing the menu. He’s no help. “I don’t know, Alli,” I tell her. “It’s kind of new and I just…”
“Don’t want to jinx it?” she suggests.
I nod. “Yeah, you could say that.”
“Bullshit,” Adam finally speaks up. “There’s nothing to jinx.”
“Wait, Adam knows?” Allison asks. “Now that’s just not fair. I know he’s gay and can be like a girlfriend of sorts but come on! I’m a real girlfriend, I should know before him.”
“He’s my roommate, Alli,” I tell her.
“So?”
“So… Roommates always know everything first,” I explain.
“Lu-uxe!” the redhead whines giving me puppy dog eyes. They’re like torture.
“Okay! Okay!” I say, holding my hands up in defeat. I look over at Adam. He’s smirking down at his menu. “The boy I was thinking about, if you really have to know, was Adam.”
“Adam?” Allison asks. “Like, Adam-Adam? Adam Lambert Adam?”
I snort. “Yeah, that Adam. How many Adam’s do you know?”
Kris raises an eyebrow at me. “You were spacing out about Adam?” he asks. I nod. “Why?”
I can feel my cheeks heat up. “Just… uh. Well…” I don’t know how to answer without telling them the whole story. I don’t want anyone else to know the terror I went through in my previous years. Thankfully, Adam comes to my rescue like always.
“We’re kind of an item,” he says.
“An item?” Allison repeats.
I look at Adam and we both nod, smiling at each other. “Did you guys happen to read my Rolling Stone article?” he asks, looking back at the two sitting across from us.
“Oh. My. God,” Alli murmurs. “No way! You were talking about her when you said you were bi-curious?!”
Adam laughs. “Geez, Alli, I don’t think the people in the kitchen heard you.”
“I could say it again a little bit louder,” she jokes, batting her eyelashes. Kris and I both laugh at her.
“So you’re saying that you’re, like, physically attracted to Luxe?” Kris asks. “Like, sexually?” Adam nods.
“So have you done it yet?” Allison asks.
“Alli!” I exclaim.
Allison giggles. “What?” she asks innocently.
“Our sex life is none of your business,” I tell her.
“So you’re saying you have a sex life?” she says. I make a frustrated noise, scrubbing my face with my hands. Luckily our waitress comes over then.
Saved by the bell.
“My name’s Leanne and I’ll be your waitress today,” she tells us. “Are you guys ready to order or do you still need a few minutes?” The four of us look around at each other and without saying a word, agree that we’re ready to order. The young woman takes our orders and says, “I’ll be back with your drinks in a jiff.” Then she turns on her heel and walks away, a sway to her hips that I just know is for Adam.
“Slut,” I mutter under my breath.
Adam laughs beside me. “Why would you call her that?” he asks.
“She obviously was checking you out,” I answer. “And did you notice the way she walked away?” Adam shakes his head. “Good. I don’t want you to see the way she was flirting with you with her ass.”
“Ooooh. Jealous much?” Kris asks.
“Shuddup,” I mutter.
“You’re going to have to get used to it,” he tells me. “All the girls love Adam… even if he is gay. Wait, are you still gay?” He looks over at his best friend then.
Adam shrugs. “Don’t exactly know what to call it yet. Luxe is the only girl I’ve ever been remotely attracted to in this way.” I feel myself blush, but I feel so much pride at the same time. All those girls out there drooling over Adam wishing he wasn’t gay and I’m the only one that turns him on. I’m one lucky bitch.
About an hour later we’ve finished eating and are chatting away happily when our handlers come get us. It’s time for tour rehearsal. We charge our food to our rooms and then head back upstairs to gather up our things. Then we’re whisked away to the rehearsal hall.
