When the chips are down, turn to Gibran
Dec. 6th, 2007 02:15 pmAs you may or may not know, I've been having some depression issues as of late. But just now I found something that has completely made everything okay, if just for now. I feel happy and inspired, like I could write the great american novel. All I did was pick up The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. I got it for my high school graduation by my favorite teacher. Okay, so it was supposed to be from all the teachers, but he's the one who picked it out, put the thought and effort into it and wrote what has cheered me up so greatly. And now, here it is.

Amanda,
I am very proud of your accomplishment! In the face of many challenges you have persevered. You told me that after graduation you would be assessing what you are capable of doing. Let me assist in your assessment.
You are capable of any and everything!!! Think of what you have overcome to be where you are today, recognize your achievements and build upon them!
May the words of Gibran serve as an inspiration for you to continue your writing. Write something for yourself every day, and forget what Kurt V. said, Keep your writing, don't throw them away, as you might find that others may find inspiration and solace from your words.
Wouldn't that be a kick.
Congratulations!
