CHAPTER THIRTY
Taylor's POV
Zac jumps up and runs from the room and then from the building. I start after him.
"Taylor." I turn back to Isaac. "Let him be," he tells me.
"No," I reply sternly. "I'm not going to let him go. I'm not going to lose him any more than I already have!" Isaac studies me for a moment. Then he gives me a short nod. I quickly head in the direction Zac had gone.
I find my younger brother sitting in a pile of leaves in the back yard. I walk up to him slowly. I don't know if he's noticed me yet and I don't want to scare him. I sit down behind Zac, a leg stretched out on either side of him, and wrap my arms around his waist.
Zac struggles, but I hold him tighter.
"Please... Please don't go," I whisper into his hair. He squeezes my hands saying,
"I'm not leaving. I just want to turn around." I nod and let go.
Zac turns to face me, placing a leg on each side of me. He wraps his arms around my waist, letting me slump against him, my eyes closed. I squeeze him tightly, a few stray tears falling. After a moment, I turn my head so my face is pressed against his neck.
"I love you," I mumble. Zac holds me just little bit tighter.
"I love you too," he whispers.
"I'm sorry," I murmur. "I'm sorry for everything."
I let my fingers trail under his shirt and cry a little harder when I notice his ribs are sticking out a bit more than usual. I cling to Zac silently, knowing he can feel the tears soaking into the collar of his t-shirt. We sit like that for a moment until I push him down onto his back.
I wrap my arms around his neck and whisper against his skin.
"I'm sorry I called you a fucking moron. I didn't mean it." Zac chuckles quietly, making me shake from my spot on his chest.
"You could have called me a lot worse," he points out.
"Yeah, but I love you," I reply. "And when you love someone, you shouldn't call them a fucking moron." I pause to wet my lips, the tip of my tongue touching his neck briefly. He sighs quietly, his arms tightening around me.
"I shouldn't have yelled at you; or fought with you so badly you went into a depression where you didn't eat, slept all day and didn't shower for weeks," I tell my brother.
"So you did talk to Isaac," Zac states. I lift my head to look at him.
"Just because we were fighting and not speaking doesn't mean I stopped caring," I reply. "And it certainly doesn't mean I stopped loving you."
Zac looks up at me with his big brown eyes and brushes his fingers over my cheek.
"You sure?" he asks. I nod.
"I'm sure." I bury my face in his neck. "I've never been surer," I whisper.
