Not Quite the Rolling Stones....
Apr. 18th, 2008 01:55 pmSo yesterday I was having severe pain in my right side. The nurse at the clinic thought it could be my appendix so she told me to go to the E.R. and have an x-ray done. The nurse also said not to go to Concord Hospital's ER but to go to the Urgent Care Walk-In at Horseshoe Pond b/c it would be less time.
One piss test, one CT scan and 2 1/2 HOURS later I was diagnosed with Kidney Stones. I have one on either side. They are about 2mm big which is, like, the size of the tip of a ball point pen. Not so big, right? Wrong. They hurt like an S.O.B, so much so that the Dr gave me Oxycodone for the pain. It could take anywhere from a day or two to two WEEKS to pass the stones. Or, the one on the left could desinigrate before it ever drops.
So what do you do for Kidney Stones? You drink water like a fish. You pee into a strainer to catch the stones so you can take them to the lab to have a Stone Analysis done on them. And you take lots of painkillers. It's not so bad. And the best thing is that it's not going to disrupt my Hanson concert. (8 DAYS!)
I have to say, that my mom is wishing I never got the kidney stones. Last night I took half a percocit and couldn't shut up for two hours. It really bugged her to say the least. And when she pointed out that I couldn't shut up, it just made it worse. I told her, You think that was bad? I didn't say half the stuff I wanted to out loud!
So all-in-all, yesterday was pretty amusing.
No, I'm not dying.
No, I don't need surgery.
Yes, I'm fine.
