These are all the lyrics to the newly released CD, Hotter, by The Minus Scale.

Hotter and Hotter and Hotter

You've got a funny way of showing me that
you were here tonight for this focus focus
you've got some kind of nerve showing up here
under such extraordinary circumstances

you play the part so well (hearts beat harder harder)
just can't believe i fell (it's getting hotter hotter)

a thousand times you tell me this is all it is
the difference between reality and fantasy
you blur the lines every time that we kiss
it's getting hotter and hotter and hotter in here

and in that moment all the romance had died
i was staring from the floor to the ceiling
my head so heavy hardly new it was mine
my body filled with horrible feelings

this is the part where the room gets smaller
the drinks get stiffer and the drugs get harder

a thousand times you tell me this is all it is
the difference between reality and fantasy
you blur the lines every time that we kiss
it's getting hotter and hotter and hotter in here

oh my love we're going nowhere faster than i thought
oh my love we're going nowhere

Oh, Disaster!

oh forgive me if you've heard this one just stop me stop me
if this is a disaster then in our stead we'll leave a chorus burning faster
in short, we took a picture perfect romance, set it to a deadly dance
maudlin defenses stressing the ties

to keep up appearances
put on the sweetest smiles
always a little less dignified
always the bridesmaid never the bride

oh forgive me. if you've heard this one just stop me seriously
oh it isn't me. if i've gone to far just stop me stop me

oh what a disaster. pick up the pieces so that they don't find the bastards
we hold responsible.
we don't need a doctor to tell us that our time is short
what we lack in headlines we make up in nerve

oh it's hard to sleep with all this raging inside
somehow we keep it to ourselves
matches to mattresses
in the LIVE FREE OR DIE

oh forgive me. if you've heard this one just stop me seriously
oh it isn't me. if i've gone to far just stop me stop me

all those indian summers in the back half of autumn we stood wide eyed and wondered
how our lives would be different our lives would be seperate again
all those indian summers in the back half of autumn we stood wide eyed and wondered
how our lives could be different outside of new england

oh forgive me. if you've heard this one just stop me seriously
oh it isn't me. if i've gone to far just stop me stop me.
oh forgive me. if you've heard this one just stop me seriously
oh it isn't me. if i've gone to far just stop me stop me

Trust

and we'll commune like soviets
like in ashrams where we waxed poetic
a change of address
from public eyes unsympathetic

this sort of thing can get so frustrating
it didn't have to be so complicated
but we just pushed and took
way too much
and now it's gone tell me what you want

you can call it trust
but it will take time
waiting for the dust
to clear from our eyes

you can make all the excuses
while they run rope for the nooses
you can make all the excuses
while they run rope for the nooses

it's never going to get you high like you want it to
it's never going to get you high like you want it

we can burn the evidence
but the paper trail is never ending
scrape off finger prints
a bloody mess a sign we're sending

this sort of thing can get so frustrating
it didn't have to be so complicated
but we just pushed and took
way too much
now it's caught up tell me what you want

you can call it trust
but it will take time
waiting for the dust
to clear from our eyes

you can make all the excuses
while they run rope for the nooses
you can make all the excuses
while they run rope for the nooses

over hear there's a taste and it's fear
yeah we got those bastards now
we'll surround the whole house
and we'll burn it to the ground

it's never going to get you high like you want it to
(tell me are you ok)
it's never going to get you high like you want it to
(tell me are you ok)
it's never going to get you high like you want it to
it's never going to get you high like you want it
it's never going to get you high like you want it to
it's never going to get you high like you want it

you can make all the excuses
while they run rope for the nooses
you can make all the excuses
while they run rope for the nooses

over hear there's a taste and it's fear
yeah we got those bastards now
we'll surround the whole house
and we'll burn it to the ground

No Matter What I Say You're Going to Do It

inside there were kissers and hits and missers the track skipped and we joked remix
there were strangers and strange men when the room started jumpin'
and you tell me, "ryan, i am so fucked up." but some guy says you're something else
what do you want me to tell you that i haven't already told you
that i haven't already told you

and even now in the deepest depths of doubt there is no other
there is no other one
who could take me downtown. you can take me out now
you're publics waiting. you're hands are shaking
but we're walking steadier straight lines

you said you said it was only a matter of a few head to heads now it's all over
he's calling you from the next room settling down
but no matter what i say you're going to do it
and i will be the only one who can't stop thinking about it
that it won't be my name you're calling
you're still worth fighting for

and even now in the deepest depths of doubt there is no other
there is no other one
who could take me downtown. you can take me out now
you're publics waiting. you're hands are shaking
but we're walking steadier straight lines

boxes of beer piling up the walls of that apartment waiting
for the first arrivals to come. we're already drunk and fighting.
whether taking shots off of the counter or taking shots at one another
the cycle bares repeating don't give up the fight
it's all there is worth fighting for

and even now in the deepest depths of doubt there is no other
there is no other one
who could take me downtown. you can take me out now
you're publics waiting. you're hands are shaking
but we're walking steadier straight lines
